Do any of us really want relate to the characters on The White Lotus? Aside from having similar bank accounts, of course. This season, there’s a wide range of shady personalities who’ve checked into the luxury resort, from the uncomfortably crass rich kid Saxon (played by Patrick Schwarzenegger) to the trio of besties (played by Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, and Michelle Monaghan) on the girls’ trip from hell who are all addicted to throwing subtle shots at each other.
The beauty of this insanely chaotic HBO drama, though, is the way that it comments on the darkest parts of human behavior. One of the leading fan theories is that each season, a character’s demise is tied to one of the seven deadly sins: lust, greed, gluttony, pride, sloth, envy, or wrath. All of this is to say that while we might not want to see ourselves in any of these characters (unless it’s, like, Belinda or Mook, obviously), this show knows how to hold up a mirror to the parts of ourselves that we hate to confront.
So which of the hotel guests or staff members at the White Lotus in Ko Samui, Thailand, best represents you? For that answer, we turned to astrology. We went ahead and identified the characters that embody each zodiac sign for a quick assessment of where you’d be this season. Check out who lines up with your Sun sign, or for a more thorough review, read which characters personify your Big Three, aka your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. And please, I beg: Don’t shoot the messenger.
Aries: Chelsea
It’s not too often that a character’s canon zodiac sign lines up with the way they actually behave, but Chelsea is a rare case. She announced her Aries status early on this season (“I’m an Aries, Rick! I need everything out in the open”) and hasn’t disappointed since. The way she fires back at Saxon’s advances really represents the fiery line of defense that a lot of Aries people have going on. But her sweet and overly understanding behavior around her boyfriend Rick really shows how easily this fire sign can soften up.
Taurus: Belinda
As arguably the show’s steadiest and most logical character, Belinda’s giving Earth Sign energy through and through. Tauruses aren’t known to beat around the bush (or entertain fake identities...Greg), so Belinda’s straight-up but measured attitude feels authentically Taurean. This is also a zodiac sign that lives for comfort and life’s finer things, so what job is more appropriate for them than working as a spa manager at a luxury resort?
Gemini: Timothy Ratliff
The easiest interpretation of Father Ratliff as a Gemini would reference the literal double life he’s leading on this vacation (the legal situation brewing for him at home is not looking good). But beyond that drama—and hear me out here—Timothy’s a pretty good communicator! He’s had a couple of touching fatherly convos with Saxon and Piper, and it’s obvious that he cares about his family. He’s also great at putting on a brave face when he needs to. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, so talking skills, charisma, and flexibility are a few of this sign’s hallmark traits. (As is impulsivity, which we’ve also seen in Timothy. Let’s not steal guns, my guy).
Cancer: Lochlan Ratliff
The youngest member of the Ratliff clan easily adapts to the energy of those around him. He’s got two headstrong older siblings, and he’s pretty keen on earning the respect and attention of both (Saxon’s more so, if their episode 5 development is any indication). As uncomfortable as his storyline is shaping up to be, he seems to be trying to find out who he is through other people, which is a mistake a lot of undeveloped Cancers tend to make. This Water Sign is prone to inheriting the emotions and burdens of those that surround them, which is why they should make sure they keep good company at all times.
Leo: Jaclyn
While they’re great at hyping up their friends, Leos are the epitome of “I’ve gotta put me first.” Jaclyn’s commitment to making sure she gets her way on this girls’ trip makes that Leo quality extremely clear within her. Jaclyn attracts attention everywhere she goes, whether it’s at the hotel breakfast or a local Thai nightclub, and that’s Leo energy in full force. Right now, she’s prioritizing her happiness over her friends (and her husband back at home), which is one of Leo’s more negative traits at work.
Virgo: Kate Bohr
We’re not giving this character the famously most type A zodiac sign purely because of her “cunty little bob,” but that does feel like a quintessentially Virgo hairstyle. This sign is great at passing silent judgments, and even the least put-together Virgos out there can come off as sounding “holier than thou” if they aren’t careful. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of Virgos earn the right to have a superiority complex, but in Kate’s case, it’s clear that she’s far from perfect, despite what she wants her friends to believe.
Libra: Mook
Mook gets to be the most charming and diplomatic sign because she’s the least controversial person on the hotel’s property right now. This character (played by Lisa from BlackPink!) mostly just minds her business, has her sweet exchanges with Gaitok, and seems like a friend to all, in true Libra form. Now, it’s still up for debate whether she’s actually into Gaitok, and that’s real Libra energy pushing through. This sign’s friendliness is always misread as flirtation—a lifelong struggle they must endure.
Scorpio: Rick
Here, we have another character whose canon sign feels accurate. Rick’s girlfriend Chelsea already noted that he’s “so secretive,” and that’s a classic Scorpio attribute. Then there’s also the revelation that Rick came to Thailand to avenge his father’s murder. A revenge plot is so Scorpio. Rick’s got a very intense, tortured energy to him and you can’t really predict his next move (his stunt freeing the snakes at a cobra attraction early in the season left all of us confused). Like a true Scorpio, he’s a man of many mysteries.
Sagittarius: Victoria Ratliff
I don’t think Victoria’s kept a single thought to herself all season. This sign is know for being direct, as well as super outspoken, so it’s only right that she’s had most of this season’s most iconic and quotable lines (I’ll never say the word “tsunami” normally again). Sagittarians are at best free-spirited and at worst completely disassociated and unbothered about the issues building up around them (which isn’t always horrible). Victoria’s top concern is the location of her Lorazepam.
Capricorn: Saxon Ratliff
Is he sort of the worst? Yes. But he obviously takes his professional life seriously and wants to honor his father’s business as best he can (despite the fact that there might not be a business to honor when they go back home). Capricorns are all about discipline, but in their worst form, they can be a bit domineering. Saxon walks into every room as if he owns it, and the way he strong-arms his brother is so intense that it’s uncomfortable to watch at times.
Aquarius: Piper Ratliff
Within her family, this girl marches to the beat of her own drum and goes against the grain every chance that she gets. She convinced her family to go to Thailand for her own self-interest, and that just screams Aquarius. Why stay in your comfortable, sheltered community when there’s so much more out there to explore? These people are independent thinkers, and won’t let anything stop their pursuit of knowledge and new experiences.
Pisces: Gaitok
Yes, he is notoriously bad at his job, but he means well! Like most Pisces, the White Lotus security guard is quite passive and gentle. But his innocent and trusting Piscean nature could be working against him in this context. It’s no secret that he’s ill-equipped to be guarding the hotel during such a high-pressure time, and that could be because he’s simply too pure for it all. Maybe he should be transferred to a role in the wellness center.
